Mechanical Splice
"The ULTRA Splice is a high performance, easy to install tunable and reusable mechanical splice. One splice accepts any combination of
buffer sizes from 250µm-900µm. Average loss is less than .2dB with a fiber retention of over 2 lbs. Installation is simple: Cleave and insert
the fibers, while checking fiber location in the glass capillary, secure by twisting a locking nut.  Meets and exceeds Bellcore specifications.
You had better have some of these for those "quick fix" situations in anticipation of the arrival of your rented Fusion Splicer.   We highly
recommend this mechanical splice."
Index Matching Gel
Index Matching Gel
"Index Matching Gel provides an effective way of reducing Fresnel reflections, and decreasing power loss in connectors and
mechanical splices. Easily applied onto connector end faces and inside mechanical splices.  But!  Be sure to use it sparingly.
It sucks up dust like a vacuum cleaner gone mad.  This is enough to last you a drillion years!"
