Optical Wavelength Laboratories (OWL) FTTH Power Source And Light Meter Kits (OLTS)
|
OWL FTTH (Fiber To The Home) test kits offer the fiber optic professional some of the best values in the industry.
These FTTH test kits include one of several OWL optical power meters and a tri-wavelength laser light source
containing 1310nm, 1490nm, and 1550nm for FTTH applications. Accessories include a hard-shell carrying case,
protective rubber boots, lanyard straps, and OWL Reporter software and operations guide on CD.
The majority of FTTH installations can be sufficiently tested using the ZOOM 2
FTTH Test Kit, which offers a simple, yet accurate, option for measuring end-to-end optical loss of FTTH links and/or
segments.
However, many installers find that they need their test set to do more than just simple loss measurement of their FTTH networks. To meet the needs
of these fiber optic professionals, OWL offers several test kit lines with additional capability, ranging from simple data storage to full-featured in-field
fiber optic link certification. See below for different test kit options.
The ZOOM 2 FTTH test kit includes a ZOOM 2 optical power meter and WaveSource FTTH singlemode laser
source. One of the major test requirements for an FTTH installation is the measurement of optical loss.
The ZOOM 2 FTTH test kit can also be used for basic loss testing of nearly all singlemode fiber networks.
The WaveTester FTTH test kit includes both the WaveTester optical power meter and the WaveSource
FTTH, which contain 1310, 1490, and 1550 nm, the wavelengths specified for use in the ITU G.983.3
FTTH standard.
Stored data may then be downloaded to a PC running OWL Reporter software for PASS or FAIL analysis,
and may also be printed as a report.
The Micro OWL 2 FTTH test kit includes both the Micro OWL 2 optical power meter and the WaveSource
FTTH, which contain 1310, 1490, and 1550 nm, the wavelengths specified for use in the ITU G.983.3
FTTH standard.
The Micro OWL 2 FTTH test kit is used for optical loss measurement loss and certification of Class A, B,
and C FTTH networks, with the convenience of showing PASS or FAIL results right on the power meter
display while testing in the field. Data is stored in the meter for later download to a PC, where test
results can be printed using OWL Reporter software.
This test kit may also be used for in-field fiber link certification using many different fiber optic cabling
standards, such as TIA-568 and Ethernet, including new 10-Gigabit Ethernet.

The Fiber OWL 4 FTTH test kit includes both the Fiber OWL 4 optical power meter and the WaveSource FTTH,
which contain 1310, 1490, and 1550 nm, the wavelengths specified for use in the ITU G.983.3 FTTH standard.

An optional round-robin length tester can be installed into the Fiber OWL 4 optical power meter for end-to-end
length measurement of fiber cables. Two fibers in the same fiber cable, looped back at the far end, are required
for this length measurement.
